Free Agent Summer

I would like to start off this new post with an apology for not posting in a timely manner.  I have been dealing with other things rather than basketball and the Lakers.  But I am here now and lets get this thing rolling again shall we.

Free Agents/Trades need to be made
First off, Bynum needs to go.  Dwight Howard won't be staying in Orlando for very much longer and the Lakers and Magic will swap Disneyland and Disneyworld. Yes Bynum is more gifted and younger than Howard but you have to remember where Bynum learned all of his moves..Los Lakers.  This trade would instantly make the team better especially if Pau can return to form.  With Pau's passing skills and away from the basket play Dwight would be the perfect compliment.

Kobe is on the decline and needs to pass the keys to LA to somebody new.  I'm not letting Pau take the driver's seat though.  This will end up being the Shaq & Kobe scenario but in reverse.  Kobe being the old dog and Dwight the young gun.  I believe that this will work out even though Kobe is probably the most arrogant player in the league right now.  He will learn to play second fiddle and still be able to get his own.

Then the Lakers should try to move bad contracts around for just bench/depth players.  Those players include Steve Black, Luke Walton, and possible Artest (oops, World Peace).  Artest would be the hardest of the three in my opinion.  I'm not saying that they should try a Pau Gason heist but something to shore up the bench to make it deeper.  Just look how the Dallas Mavericks did this season.

Shannon Brown, Theo Ratliff, and Joe Smith will all be gone and their roster spots will be open.  Here is the plan regarding free agents...(pending the CBA agreement allows)

Sign Aaron Brooks: speed and perimeter shooting.  A much needed upgrade from Steve Blake, who was a failed experiment, and would step right in with Mike Brown's new running program.  His defense is below average but that is what the offseason and practice is for.

Sign Carl Landry: All Laker fans know how he was getting in Pau's head. Keep your friends close and enemies closer? Lakers have done it before.  He brings hard nosed defense for being undersized and is young.  More importantly he is athletic and young a perfect combination for rebuilding.

Sign J.R. Smith: Lakers get more tattoos, replacing Shannon Brown.  He would bring tenacious D. He has shown that he can do other things besides shoot the three ball and it would be great to have him back up Kobe so Kobe doesn't get harassed anymore.  His defense has improved and his attitude would be perfect for a team that didn't have one.

For a Bonus:
Maybe a Shane Battier for defense and three point shooting?
Tyson Chandler to back up D-Howard and bring him back home? Unlikely, but wishful thinking.
Chris Humphries, have all the Kardashians in one place??
Earl Clark/Aaron Gray, why not since we are on the subject?

Now remember this would be peaches and cream if the CBA allows it to be. We have to tune in and find out.

If you have a questions or comments feel free to post them.  Here's an idea, you post a free agent and I'll give you my opinion on where they will be playing.
